acquaint you, for the information of Earl Granville, that a telegram was despatched to the General Officer Commanding, in October last (in reply to an application for instructions received from him) informing him of the willingness of the War Department to indemnify the Colonial Government against any litigation with the Lessees of Marine Lots 20 and 21, in respect to which it was proposed to take proceedings for resumption.
I am further to express regret that you were not informed, at the same time, of the action taken.
